Very cookie cutter approach, often chaotic and disorganised. I received 3 phone calls to confirm one egg retrieval and then 5 hours later a call from a doctor delaying it - by then I was 80 miles away with no medication.

My husband and I sought treatment at the Lister as our urologist (Jonathan Ramsey) was affiliated with the clinic. We’d had a cycle at Care Manchester previously but needed specialist help that we couldn’t get at our clinic. A microtese was performed successfully, my IVF went ok (no known fertility issues), one embryo was made but didn’t take. The sperm was shipped back to Manchester where we eventually conceived our second child.
The cycles were had at the Lister (one cycle was abandoned) were expensive and I don’t feel the service we received made it good value for money. I think the monitoring was good. You definitely felt like a number. It’s a very busy clinic. The nurses / sonographers were wonderful, the best thing about the clinic. The doctors were good at their jobs but it felt like time with them was limited. Appointments would run quite a bit over. Communication was pretty good, although I remember a few times I couldn’t get through and I wasn’t sure if I was travelling the next day. Important as I had a long commute from Manchester. I was able to get private scans up north and send them to the clinic.
More transparency over payments is needed. There was some confusion when paying for the microtese (although some of the blame belongs to our urologist).
Having an in-house pharmacy was extremely useful. Taxi rank outside was useful! The building was clean but felt fairly old.
I felt let down by the counselling service, it was difficult to book and I spoke to two different counsellors. One was ok, the other I didn’t rate.
I don’t really leave bad reviews. I think the Lister will get a lot of women pregnant but it was expensive for the level of service. We had our clinic in Manchester to compare it too and the service there was of a high level.

as part of my treatment at the Lister, I saw a reproductive immunologist, the tests are expensive but the treatment prescribed before and after transfer hopefully has resulted in a viable pregnancy. I would say the communication with this department wasn't the best and I had to do a lot chasing, the Dr seems so busy and in demand that it's appears to affect his time with patients, and some things should have been checked before recommending certain treatments, but the tests were well worth it and for that I am grateful.
The nurses and the embryoligist during transfers are a delight and very kind and reassuring.

I didn't feel we got a truly personalised experience. It was fine, but I just can't rave about it. We ended up moving clinics to a clinic in Athens and the standard of individualised care was exceptional. The doctor there felt committed to us in a way that the Lister never did.

Some consultants were better than others at explaining changes during treatment cycle. Some seemed to only be able to refer to the Clinic’s protocol.

Waiting times can vary, even when you have an appointment time. I have waited up to an hour after my scheduled appointment time. Staff are apologetic and sometimes these things can’t be helped.

Ultimately we had two successful treatments here so I would definitely recommend. The ability to use the satellite office at the Shard for appointments is also very helpful for those who work in the City

The clinic itself, the doctors & nurses and the surgery and after-care were excellent. However, I found the administrative side poor. I was also once given the wrong medication at their dedicated on-site pharmacy which could have been terrible and made me very upset and anxious. they did follow up quickly with apologies/contact.

The Lister Hospital in Chelsea did everything to make mine and my partner's experience with IVF as pleasant as could be, despite the difficult circumstances we were in (my partner had been through cancer after a miscarriage, and was told rather abruptly by a consultant at an NHS clinic that 'your eggs are no good' - that particular clinic didn't help us with our funding claim to the NHS (the funding team called the clinic several times without any response, leading them to terminate our claim, which meant we had to rely on what little savings we had and help from family and friends).
We are currently expecting our daughter in October 2023, and it was thanks to the Lister Hospital. Every member of staff we approached was courteous, understanding and helpful. We would not hesitate to recommend them to friends, and to go through them again should we want to.

It felt somewhat impersonal because I had accessed all scans and blood tests through a closer service as I was donating my eggs and so had built no relationship with the staff. I was very young when I donated and felt quite out of place in a private expensive clinic that I would not have been able to afford if I was having treatment myself. The anaesthetist however was fantastic and I felt very safe with her, despite having no previous contact with her
