I have had a lot of issues with admin being overlooked by the clinic. First having a cycle cancelled because they had forgotten to take my thyroid result from me, second time nearly having a cycle cancelled because they had forgotten to ask for my smear test results. I had started medication both times, wasted time and money and it took a huge emotional toll. These were simple errors which had a huge effect on my treatment and both times I was let know by email rather than an actual phonecall. To have your cycle cancelled because no one remembered to ask your smear result was horrifying.

We are NHS funded but I have not felt treated any differently. Albeit their communication over email can be a little slow however that does take not away from the overall experience I have felt with this clinic, if I were needing to recommend them, I would. Although we are not at the point we want to be at, the process so far has been smooth and they have been very informative in person. Staff have been warm, open to any questions and quick to react when we were ready beforehand and changed my trigger shot as was deemed medically necessary. When having my egg collection, the nurse on duty was caring, talked me through it all and generally everything I needed in that moment. A lady before me had not had the desired outcome (as I could tell, not informed by staff) but when I had been successful I found them to be very aware of these persons experience and they were mindful of her. I really appreciate this and felt it took great care to detail and that her dignity was taken into consideration. And as a person going through this equally I am acutely aware of the feeling she must have felt and this brought me great comfort that the staff at this clinic aren’t just there for a job but because it’s something they are invested in.

We had a really positive experience at Bourn, the communication and ease of contacting the clinic can be hit and miss but every member of staff we met was brilliant, if circumstances allow we wouldn’t hesitate to have further treatment here

The nursing team is very supportive and reply to emails quickly. The doctors are harder to track down to talk to. I only had direct communication from my doctor when she sent me the treatment plan and when I persistently requested a meeting with her to discuss a failed cycle.

The nurses at the clinic were extremely friendly and consistently provided reassurance when I felt overwhelmed. As it was a NHS funded cycle I felt the constant change of Doctors throughout the cycle made it frustrating at times as I had to provide historic information which at times was difficult to articulate as I was going through such an emotionally and physically draining cycle. The out of hours medical assistance was easily accessible however I felt the consultant was slightly abrupt - I contacted them as my trigger injection prior to egg collection did not work as expected.
